The Dhaka-Pabna bus service has remained suspended from Thursday night, causing huge sufferings to the commuters.
No buses were operated on this route from 10pm on Thursday to Friday (June 27) noon.
The Pabna District Motor Owners Group is observing a strike.
Aminul Islam Babul, office secretary of the Pabna District Motor Owners' Group, said “After a joint meeting with the Bus-Minibus Owners’ Association and the Motor Workers’ Union, we decided to suspend all long-distance buses to Dhaka until the issue is resolved”.
According to the workers’ union, Shahjadpur-based transport groups have repeatedly violated operational rules and attacked Pabna drivers.
The strike is ongoing, with no immediate end in sight, as transport leaders call for administrative action to ensure the safety of Pabna's transport workers.
