4 killed, 20 injured in Munshiganj road crash

A passenger bus rammed into a truck on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj early Saturday, leaving four people dead and at least 20 others injured.
The deceased were identified as Zillur Rahman, 65, son of Bazlur Rahman; Dr Jalal, 65, son of Insan Ali; Abdul Halim, 55; and Hasib, 32, son of Md Bappi.
Dewan Azad Hossain, station officer of Srinagar Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the accident took place near the midpoint between Singpara-Nauapara and Hasara Bridge-2 when a Dhaka-bound ‘Hamdan Express’ bus from Jashore hit a running truck from behind. Following the collision, both vehicles lost control and crashed into the railing of the expressway’s median strip, leaving two people dead and at least 20 others injured.
Of the injured, two more died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
However, the two vehicles have been seized in this connection, he said.
