Dilly-dally over July Charter begins, vows to realize: Nahid

Nahid Islam, convener of National Citizen Party (NCP), has stated that procrastination regarding the July Charter has begun, but they will ensure it is realized.

On Tuesday (July 1), he made this comment after visiting the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed at Babanpur Jafarpara village in Pirganj of Rangpur, marking the anniversary of the July Mass Uprising.

The NCP’s ‘July March to Build Country’ began with the visit to the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, who was martyred during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Nahid said, “Our demands were for justice, reform, and a new constitution. I am reiterating these three demands again after visiting Abu Sayeed’s grave. To build a new Bangladesh, we must definitely move towards a new constitution through justice, reform and constituent assembly elections.”

“Referring to the procrastination that has begun regarding the July Charter, he said, “We want to clearly warn that if the government or anyone thinks that the thousands of people who came out onto the streets have returned home, then you are mistaken. We declare from here that we will go to every corner of Bengal. We will once again call upon the youth, workers, and general public of Bengal to come out onto the streets.”
