Former MP Durjoy placed on 4-day remand

A court in Manikganj has placed former Awami League MP Naimur Rahman Durjoy on four-day remand in a case filed under the Explosive Substances-Act.

Judge of Manikganj Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Sadbir Yeasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order on Thursday (July 3).

Earlier, the investigation officer of the case produced him before the court seeking 10-day remand.

Naimur Rahman Durjoy was elected MP from Manikganj-1 as a candidate of the ruling Awami League in both the 2014 and 2018 national elections. After reportedly going into hiding since August 5, he was finally arrested by district’s Detective Branch (DB) of police from his residence at Lalmatia in Dhaka.
