NCP motorcade comes under attack

The motorcade of NCP (National Citizen Party) came under an attack allegedly in Thakurgaon district on Friday noon.

The incident took place in Tangaon bridge area on way to Pirganj from Thakurgaon sadar upazila.

According to NCP and local sources, after Friday prayers at Thakurgaon Art Gallery Mosque, the NCP convoy left for Pirganj. While crossing the Tangon Bridge, an inter-district bus hit the NCP convoy. When a vehicle was damaged, the NCP leaders and activists stopped the vehicle and demanded an apology. Then, about five to six unknown people attacked the NCP leaders and activists. An NCP worker along with the driver was injured in the incident.

NCP has alleged that the attack was pre-planned. The main objective was to kill the party’s top leaders by running over the bus. However, they could not identify the exact vehicle. 

Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarwar Hossain said, “We visited the spot as soon as we came to know about the matter. The NCP has alleged that it was an attack. Initially, they showed a video of an attacker. The matter will be investigated and actions will be taken.”
