Nation to remember martyred women of July uprising: Adviser Sharm

Social Welfare Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid has said the nation will long remember the children and women martyred during the student-led July Uprising in 2024 stepped down fascist Sheikh Hasina.

She made the remarks following visits to homes of July martyred Riya Gop, a child who was shot dead in Nayamati and Sumaiya, a housewife killed in the Mizmiji area of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj city on Sunday.

“We won't let the memory of the women and children martyred in the July uprising fade away,” said Sharmeen, also the women and children affairs adviser. 

“Their stories will be compiled and preserved. They will not be forgotten,” she added.

She further said the state will ensure the rights of those martyred in the uprising, noting that Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Miah is already working toward that end. 

Several senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj, were present during the visit.
