Production at Ghorashal power plant halted due to gas shortage 

Due to gas shortage, production at all seven units of Narsingdi’s Ghorashal Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 1,610 megawatts has been halted. 

Chief Engineer of the power plant Md. Enamul Haque confirmed this information on Thursday (July 10). 

He said, “The power plant has been facing a gas shortage for the past two years. Due to the gas shortage, the power plant's 360 megawatt unit number 4, 210 megawatt unit number 5 and 360 megawatt unit number 7 have been completely shut down”.

Md. Enamul said, “The government has stopped the gas supply to the power plant because it is supplying gas to the fertilizer factory. I have applied to the relevant ministry for an alternative gas supply. We will be able to generate electricity at full speed only if gas is supplied.”
