National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said, “They thought that by showing 2-3 seats and showing the lure of sharing power, they would buy the power of the mass uprising. But, no political party in Bangladesh has the capacity to buy the power of the revolution, those who have returned from the brink of death.
He said this while addressing a rally at Shahid Asif Square at Satkhira-Khulna Road intersection on Saturday noon.
Nahid said, “On August 5, we opened the door and said, “Let's form a national government, rebuild the country. But they did not agree to our proposal. They said the election should be held within 3 months, and again they said the election should be held within 6 months. They did not get any support for reforms except for power-sharing.”
Southern region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah said, Satkhira residents raised voice against extortionists and corrupt people in the past, are still, and will raise in the future. He called for forming committees in villages and neighborhoods to eliminate extortionists.
Northern region chief organizer Sarjis Alam, southern region joint chief organizer Mejbah Kamal, among others, also spoke.
Satkhira district NCP coordinator Kamruzzaman Bulu presided over the meeting.
