The interim government is committed to holding the next national election perfectly and creating an atmosphere before the national election.
Abul Kalam Azad Mazumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, said this while addressing a views-exchange meeting with government officials, journalists, and members of civil society at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office on Saturday.
“The previous three consecutive elections were not elections; those were mockeries to the general people in the name of elections,” he said.
He said a level playing field will be created for all contesting parties since the government is neutral and does not represent any political party. This time, there will be no repetition of the previous situations.
The law and order situation will be improved ahead of the election at any cost, he added.
Mazumder said Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has already directed law enforcement agencies to complete all preparations by December for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhter, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mirza Amin Ahmed, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahmmad and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi also spoke on the occasion.
Replying to a question, Azad Mazumder said the government has been working for the welfare of the media and media professionals and has made some progress in this regard.
