Flood situation improves in Feni, 7,000 families still marooned

The flood situation in Feni is gradually improving.
The water in all rivers in the district is now flowing below the danger level.
The Bangladesh Army is assisting the administration in rescue and relief operations.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief disclosed this in its latest report on the overall flood situation in Feni on Monday (July 14) noon.
The report said due to heavy rains and upstream water, the water of the Muhuri, Kuhua and Silonia rivers in Feni district flowed above the danger level, inundating 44 villages in Parshuram upazila, 67 in Fulgazi upazila, 15 in Chagalnaiya upazila, 9 in Feni sadar upazila and 2 in Daganbhuiyan upazila.
Currently, water has receded from 130 villages and the number of families trapped in water is 6,950.
An emergency meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee was held on July 8 and July 11 in the presence of the Adviser and Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief along with the Feni District Administration.
In the meeting, 23 lakh 50 thousand taka in cash and 160 metric tons of rice have been allocated for the flood victims in Fulgazi, Parshuram, Chagalnaiya, Sonagazi, Daganbhuiyan and Feni sadar upazilas.
About 2 thousand 200 packets of dry and other food have been given in Fulgazi, Parshuram and Chhagalnaiya upazilas.
A total of 230 shelter centers have been prepared in five upazilas in the flood situation.
Arrangements have been made to supply cooked food to these centers.
