UNO’s motorcade under attack in Gopalganj

The leaders and activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and Awami League allegedly attacked the motorcade of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) on Wednesday morning (July 16).

The incident took place in Gandhiashur area of the Sadar Upazila.

Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Rokibul Hasan confirmed the matter.

He said the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) had planned a rally and public meeting at the municipal park in Gopalganj town on Wednesday as part of its month-long “July March to Build the Nation” programme. Awami League and Chhatra League supporters first attacked the police to thwart their program. Later, they attacked on the motorcade and vandalized the vehicle.

Earlier, the Chhatra League leaders and activists set fire to a police vehicle in Gopalganj Sadar, centering the NCP's central program.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mir Md. Sajedur Rahman confirmed the news.
