Gopalganj district wears an eerie calm a day after clashes following the National Citizen Party (NCP) rally program.
A 22-hour curfew is underway across the district from 8:00pm on Wednesday to 6:00pm on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday (July 16), the violence erupted during the NCP rally when clashes broke out between NCP supporters and members of the banned Awami League and its student wing, Chhatra League. At least four people died from gunshot wounds in the incident.
Later, in response to the unrest, the government imposed a curfew from 8 pm on Wednesday (July 16) to 6 am on Thursday in Gopalganj.
Despite the curfew, a few daily wage earners were seen venturing out in the morning. However, all types of business farms in the district town are closed.
