Double murder in Bogura: Main accused arrested

Police’s Detective Branch (DB) on Thursday morning (July 17) arrested the main accused in connection with the murder of two members of the same family in Bogura.

The arrestee is known as Saikat Hasan, son of Md Sohel Islam, hailed from Islampur Harigari area of Bogura town.

Confirming the matter, Bogura district police spokesperson Additional Police Super Md Atwar Rahman said that interrogation is underway. Saikat initially confessed to his involvement in the murder and said that he committed them after his love and marriage proposals were spurned.

Earlier on Wednesday night, the two women – Laili Beowa, 83, and Habiba Yasmin, 21 – were hacked to death, and another person, Bonna Akter, was stabbed in the Islampur Harigari area of the town.
