Section 144 reimposed in Gopalganj

The local administration imposed section 144 in Gopalganj from 6am to 8pm today (July 20) following the clashes surrounding a rally organised by the National Citizen Party (NCP).

The impact of the violence surrounding the NCP rally is seen across the district. Although some relief has returned to the public, the people are panic of mass arrests.

Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Muhammad Kamruzzaman said the measure was taken to maintain public order and ensure the safety of lives and property, given the prevailing law and order situation.

It is mentionable that on July 16, violence broke out across various areas of Gopalganj town during the NCP's planned rally, leaving five people dead.
