There is an allegation that the BSF has shot two Bangladeshis on the Shingnagar border of Manaksha Union in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.

The incident took place inside India in the early hours of Thursday (July 24). However, the matter was only revealed on Friday. The BGB confirmed that one person was injured.

Who received bullet injury are Md. Selim (25), son of Ariful Islam Hanif of Sahapara-Panditpara of Manaksha union in Shibganj upazila, and Md. Suman (28), son of Sultan Ali of Tarapur-Munnapara.

Abdullah Al Mamun, a resident of Panditpara, said some smugglers tried to enter India early on Thursday. At that time, members of the 71 BSF Battalion's Daulatpur camp opened fire on them. Two were injured in the firing. The members who were with them at that time brought the two injured people to Bangladesh. Now they are receiving treatment in hiding.

Local UP member Sirajul Islam said, “Some smugglers tried to cross the border and enter India. At that time, I heard that BSF members chased them.”

When asked about this, Lieutenant Colonel Fahad Mahmud Rinku, commander of 53 BGB in Chapainawabganj, said, “Members of the BSF Daulatpur camp were contacted. They (BSF) admitted to chasing smugglers in the border area but said no shooting from their side.
