National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has said, “Elections will be meaningless without trial and reforms. The police are trying to blame the students and the people who fought for the July uprising. We were forced to resist the oppression. Our fight was against the fascist state and fascist forces.”
He said this at a rally on the outskirts of Moulvibazar town on Saturday (July 26) afternoon.
The NCP held the rally in Moulvibazar as part of the ‘July March to Build the Nation’.
Speaking as the chief guest, the NCP convener said, “If elections are held without trial and reforms, the people will not accept them. Therefore, everyone should unite on the issue of trial and reforms.”
Regarding the constitution, Nahid Islam said, “We have said that we need a new constitution. A constitution that will write about the rights of the people of Bangladesh, recognize all historical struggles, and ensure equal rights for all races, religions, and castes.”
People from different classes and professions joined their program.
Chaired by Fahad Alam, chief coordinator of the Moulvibazar district unit of the NCP, the organization's central committee member secretary Akhtar Hossain, chief coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari, and others also spoke.
