Extremist killed in Pabna 'gunfight'

Pabna Correspondent: An extremist leader was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Dorirchar area of the district's Aminpur thana early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Nistar alias Nizam, 40, son of late Esen Ali of Khaschar Balrampur village of the ditrict's sadar upazila.
Tazul Huda, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Aminpur Police Station, confirmed the news.
He said people of two extremist groups- xulhas and Nistar, stand face to face against each other at Dorirchar area around 3:00am on Wednesday. Being informed, police conducted a drive there. Sensing the presence of police, both of the groups fired each other. Cops also started to fire, resulting a triangular gunfight. At one stage, extremists of both groups fled the scene. Later, police recovered bullet-hit body of Nistar.
Tajul said Nistar was a local extremist group 'Sarbahara'.
Three police men also were injured in the incident. Law enforcers also seized arms and bullets from the spot, he added.
Nistar was an accused in at least 12 cases including the sensational three-police murder case of Dhalarchar, the OC said.
The body was sent to Pabna General Hospital for autopsy, he added.
