Top terror Halim killed in Sirajganj ‘gunfight’

Sirajganj Correspondent:  A top terror namely Halim Sarkar has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the elite force RAB in the district’s Kamarkhanda upazila.

The gunfight took place around 2.30am on Wednesday at Chok Shabajpur Uttarpara village.   

The deceased was the son of the late Kamal Sarkar at Pachbaria village under   Kamarkhanda upazila.

Major Shafayet Sumon, commanding officer of RAB 12 crime prevention branch, said acting on a tip-off that some robbers were preparing to commit robberies, the RAB members conducted a drive there in the dead of night. Sensing the elite force’s presence, the gang opened fire at the law enforcers forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.

All the robbers but Halim managed to flee the scene, the RAB officer said.

Two RAB members were also injured in the gunfight, he also said.
