ABT's regional chief arrested

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 have arrested regional chief of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Keranipara area of the city early Thursday.

The arrestee is Zahid Hasan alias Abu Jayed Al Ansar.

ASP Khondakar Golam Mortuza, assistant director of RAB-13, confirmed the arrest at a press briefing at its office in the afternoon.

Based on online monitoring and information provided by detectives, a team of RAB-13 conducted a drive in the area early in the morning and arrested ABT's regional chief Zahid Hasan, the RAB official said.

A huge amount of bomb making materials were recovered from his possession, he added.
