Body found in sea 5 days after missing

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Police recovered the body of a van driver from sea on Saturday night, five days after he went missing.

The deceased was identified as Arjun Chandra Nath, son of late Noni Gopal Nath of Rahmatparha village of the district's Sitakunda upazila.

Mozammel, Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of Sitakunda Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said locals noticed a floating body at Kumira ghat area in in sea and informed police. Later, police recovered the body around 11:30pm on Saturday. The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy. It will be handed over to the family after completing legal processes.

It may be mentioned that Arjun went out home with his van on August 28, since he did not return. On following day, his wife Moni Nath filed a general diary (GD) with Sitakunda Model Police Station in this regard.

Moni Nath said we started searching for him as he did not return home. We also found his mobile phone switched off. Later, we came to know that  several youths were locked into altercation with him and took him to the hill.  Then we filed a GD in this regard.
