30 injured as AL rivals clash

Noakhali Correspondent: At least 30 people were injured as two rival groups of the ruling Awami League (AL) locked into clash over establishing supremacy at the district's Hatia upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
An attack was made on the house Noakhali-6 (Hatia) constitution lawmaker Ayesha Ferdous during the clash.
The injured were could not be identified immediately. They were being given first aid locally.
Locals said a Juba League activist named Riaz Uddin was killed as miscreants of rival group attacked on him on August 30. Deceased's father Qurban Ali filed a case against 154 people including local AL leader Mohammad Ali in this connection that sparked tension among supporters of Mohammad Ali and professor Wali Ullah, local AL upazila president, for past several days.
As a sequel to that, supporters of both groups locked into clash, made chase and counter chase. They also fired bullets and blasted cocktails, leaving 30 people of both groups injured, they said.
Abdul Mazid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatia Poice Staion, confirmed the news.
Police were deployed around the spot. The situation was under control, he added.
