Dacoit killed in ‘gunfight’, thief lynched in Trishal

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A suspected dacoit was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with DB police in the district’s Trishal upazila early Monday.

In another incident, a cow thief was lynched by the locals in the upazila.

The incidents took place at Nigorkanda village and Boilor village under Horirampur union respectively.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Trishal Thana Kaziur Rahman said a gang of robbers were taking preparations to commit robbery in Nigorkanda village. On information, a team of DB police conducted a drive. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the robbers opened fire forcing the policemen to back fire that triggered a gunfight. One robber died on the spot and other managed to flee from the spot.
