6 shot in Kishoreganj clash

Kishoreganj Correspondent: At least six people received bullet injury in a clash between two groups over setting up dam in a Beel in Noapara area of Dampara union under Nikli upazila of the district on Thursday.

The injured are- Bacchu Mia, 45, Eruk Mia, 25, Rabbik, 15, Abdul Bari, 45, Nazmul Huq, 23 and Menu Mia, 40.

Locals said that there was a dispute between villagers and leaseholders centering leasing Sakideyar Beel. Leaseholder Moti Mia leased 48 acres of land in the Beel. He went to the Beel with his follower and tried to put a dam outside of his leasing Beel. Meanwhile, villagers protested them which triggered the clash, leaving six people bullet injured.

The injured were admitted to Kishoreganj General Hospital.

Nikli police station Officer-in-Charge confirmed the matter.
