Cop among 35 hurt in Noakhali clash

Noakhali Correspondent: At least 35 people, including three policemen, were injured in a factional clash between two groups of Jubo League in Hatia upazila of the district.

Sources said that the clash broke out during a rally marking the 45th founding anniversary of the pro-Awami League youth body this afternoon.

The injured are- Hatia Police Station officer-in-charge Kamruzzaman Shikdar, Juba League activist Shakhawat, 32, Emran, 30, Saiful, 16, Abul Kalam, 28, Nur Alam, 45, Altaf Uddin, 37 and others remained unidentified instantly.

Injured OC Kamruzzaman said the two groups locked into clash over establishing supremacy. Meanwhile, police fired 250 rubber bullets and lobbed 20 tear gas canisters to bring the situation under control.

Additional police forces were deployed in the area, he added.
