5 held for snatching in Gopalganj

Gopalganj Correspondent: Five suspected snatchers were detained when they were snatching money from Bahrabari village under Kotalipara upazila of the district yesterday night.

The detainees are- Siraj, 38, son of Moslem Howladar, Sumon, 38, son of Aynal Howladar, Naser Faraji, 32, son of Jahangir Faraji, Alam Hawladar, 39, son of Majid Howladar and Rana, 27, son of Soleman Ali.

Identifying themselves to be police personnel, the snatchers intercepted two victims named Khadiza Begum, 52 and her son Kayes Howladar, 30 around 1:00pm on Thursday. At one stage, the snatchers snatched Tk 2.85 lakh from them and fled the scene.

Later, on information, police put barricade on highway. Sensing the police activity, the muggers tried to flee the scene leaving the microbus in Bahrabari area. Meanwhile, police detained them with handcuff, DB police dress and a warless handset from the spot.

Confirming the matter, Kotalipara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Kamrul Faruk said that the snatchers were produced before the court seeking five days remand.
