2 killed as truck drags rickshaw 3km

Thakuargaon Correspondent: Two people have been killed as a truck dragged a rickshaw nearly 3 kilometers in Thakurgaon.

Of the deceased, rickshaw passenger Asaduzzaman Shuvon, 22, was identified. He is son of Gousul Azam of Nishchintapur area of the district's sadar upazial.

However, another deceased rickshaw-puller could not be ascertained immediately.

According to sources, the truck rammed the rickshaw at Sattyapur bridge area of the upazila. The truck driver pulled the rickshaw nearly 3 kilometers ahead as it was stuck. Later, locals stopped the truck after setting up barricade at Kochabari area.

Locals also gave the truck driver a good thrashing, before handing him over to police.

Kafil Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of confirmed the news.

He said truck driver Toabur Rahman, 36, was held. Legal actions will be taken against him.
