Six BNP men arrested in Pabna

Pabna Correspondent: Police arrested BNP secretary general of Pabna district and five other activists of the party from Monday night to Tuesday afternoon.

Abdur Razzak, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said police, acting on a tip-off, arrested them while they were holding a secret meeting at the house of Pabna district BNP secretary general Habibur Rahman Tota.

Tota along with Omar Faruk, convener of Pabna sadar upazila BNP,  Abul Kalam Fakir, convener of Chinakhora UP BNP of Sujanagar Upazila, Monir Hossain, orginasing secretary of the district Chhatra Dal and BNP activist Saiful Islam were arrested around 4:00pm on Tuesday, h eadded.

Earlier on Monday night, the District Swecchasebak Dal president Monowar Shamim was arrested from the town's Abdul Hamid road, the OC said.

All the arrestees are accused in the case filed over attacking on police on January 1, he added.

They were sent to jail through court, the OC said.
