Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader said the party has no intention to keep Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) away from the next general election.
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister came up with the comment while talking to reporters during a visit to the four-lane Dhaka-Tangail Highway to see its ongoing works on Saturday morning.
Quader said, “BNP’s movement will bring no result. I suggest them to take preparations for the next general election. AL has no intention to keep them out from the election.”
“There is now no scope in Bangladesh to bring BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia out from jail through movement. They should understand the reality. They had thought that there would be a tough movement after Khaleda Zia’s arrest. But their dream went unfulfilled,” he added.
Over the construction works on Dhaka-Tangail Highway, he said a 50-kilometer four-lane will be visible on the highway before the Eid ul-Fitr. There will not be unbearable traffic jams on the road before and after the Eid.
Engineer of Roads and Highways Department (Dhaka division) Sabuj Uddin Khan, Project Director Md Ishak and other senior officials were present there.
