‘Khaleda to be given treatment as per jail code’

Noakhali Correspondent: Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said BNP Chairman Khaleda Zia will be given treatment as per the jail code, taking the advice of the medical board formed over her treatment.

Quader said this while replying to a question from journalists after attending the 'chehlam' of his mother late Begum Fazilatunnessa at his house in Noakhali on Saturday noon.

“She has been given medical treatment as per the decision of doctors and the government is not interfering in it... The government will do everything for the proper treatment of Begum Zia,” the minister said.

Quader said if the doctors suggest sending the BNP chief abroad for treatment, then the government will do it.

Regarding the next general elections, the AL general secretary said the next polls will be held as per constitution. The constitution will show the path how the polls will be held, he added.

Local lawmakers Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Morshed Alam and Abdullha Al Mamun, Awami League district unit President Khairul Anam Selim, Noakhali Pourosava Mayor Shahid Ullha Khan Sohel and AL city unit President Abdul Wadud Pintu, among others, were present in the function.
