Father-son among 4 burnt in Gazipur

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Four people including a man and his son were burnt in fire of gas cylinder at Safipur of the district’s Kaliakoir upazila on Wednesday.
The victims were known as Rashedul Hassan alias Rasel, 28, his son Rakib Hassan Rafi, 6, Dulal Chandra, 50, and Monir Hossain, 38, two workers of the shop from where the cylinder was bought.
Locals said Rashed, an employee of a local garment factory, bought a gas cylinder from a shop on Tuesday evening. But he could not set fire on the burner from it. So, he called two workers of the shop. The workers were trying to set fire. At one stage, fire ensued after it had suffered leakage, leaving the four burnt.
The victims were primarily rushed to a local hospital. Later, they were referred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), according to locals.
Bacchu Mia, In-Charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the news.
He said Rashed suffered 17 percent of burns while Rakib 11. Dulal and Monir each suffered 10 percent of their bodies burnt.
