3 tourists go missing in bay in Ctg

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Three tourists went missing in the Bay of Bengal while bathing in Banshbaria sea beach in Sitakunda upazila on Friday afternoon.

The victims are Saiful, 27, Alauddin, 25, and Yeasin, 19, of Jhautala in Chattogram city.

Local union parishad member Mohammad Hasan said a group of 20-25 people came from the port city to visit the sea beach.

Three of them went missing around 3:30pm while bathing in the bay.

Instantly, locals launched an operation with an engine boat but could not rescue them till filing of this report around 6:00pm.

Chattogram Fire Service control room officer Shahidul Islam said a team of divers from Sitakunda Fire Service station rushed to the spot to join the rescue operation.

Earlier, on June 22 last, two other tourists hailing from Narayanganj drowned in the sea beach.
