‘Drug dealer’ killed in Comilla ‘gunfight’

Cumilla Correspondent: A suspected drug dealer was killed in a shootout with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) reportedly taken place in Chauddagram upazila of the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Faruq, known in the locality as a top drug dealer. He was the son of Mantaz Mia at Ramrai village.

Foreign pistol, bullets and huge yaba were recovered from the spot. 

Tipped-off, an elite force team conducted a drive in Komalla area. Sensing the presence of the RAB team, the suspected drug peddlers fired gunshots to them while the elite force fired back in self-defence, leaving Faruq dead on the spot, said Major Ataur Rahman of Crime Prevention Company in Cumilla.

The deceased was accused in five cases filed over drug abuse, he added.
