5 killed as bus overturns in Gaibandha

Gaibandha Correspondent: At least five people were killed and 15 injured as a bus overturned on Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Gobindaganj upazila of the district early Saturday.

The accident took place in Jummar Ghar area around 3:30am.

Four of the deceased were identified as Riaz Uddin of Mithapukur in Rangpur, Mahabul Islam of Patgram in Lalmonirhat,  Sunil Kumar of Tangail and Bidyut Mia at Hatibandha in Lalmonirhat.

According to sources, a Burimari-bound bus of Barkat Enterprise overturned on the highway, leaving three people dead on the spot and 17 injured. Later, two injured people died on the way to hospital.

The injured have been admitted to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex.

District administration has provided Tk 10,000 each to the deceased's family.
