Drug traders killed in Cox's Bazar 'gunfight'

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A suspected drug trader was killed in a gunfight with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troopers in Marine Drive area of Teknaf upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Abdullah, 24, son of Rashid, hailed from Notun Pallan Para of Teknaf.

Teknaf BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Foysal Hasan Khan confirmed the matter.

He said, acting on secret information, BGB personnel set a check post in the area. Meanwhile, a gang drug trader opened fire riding a motorbike. In reply, BGB men also opened fire, leaving the drug trader injured. Later, he was sent to Teknaf Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

10,000 pieces of Yaba pills, a fire arms and a motorcycle were recovered from the spot.
