2 shot dead in Faridpur

Faridpur Correspondent: Two people were shot dead and injured 10 others during a clash between two factions of the Awami League in Nagarkanda Kaichail union of Faridpur on Saturday evening.

The deceased were identified as Rowshon Mia and Tuhin Mia.

Locals said there was a dispute between Kaichail union parishad chairman Kabir Hossain Thandu and local Awami League leader Hasanuzzaman since many days. Following the dispute, the supporters of Thandu killed Hasanuzzaman’s follower Mahidul in 2017. Thandu and his followers were made accused in the murder case.

Centering the issue, the supporters of Thandu attacked Hasanuzzaman’s brother Juba League leader Hanif this evening. Meanwhile, Hanif opened fire, leaving couple of attackers bullet-injured.

Later, the injured were sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared the duo dead.

Additional police forces were deployed in the area.
