500 families celebrate Eid in Pirojpur

Pirojpur Correspondent: 500 families of some villages in Pirojpur district are celebrating Eid-ul-Azha on Sunday in line with the festival day in Saudi Arabia.

The traditional Korbani sacrifice of animals is also being conducted at these villages.

Most Muslims in Bangladesh will officially celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on Monday, according to the Zulhijja moon sighting.

But followers of different clerics or Pirs in these villages traditionally observe most religious festivals such as Ramadan and Eids in keeping with dates followed in countries of the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia and the other Middle Eastern countries are celebrating the Eid on Sunday in line with moon sightings in the region.
