Physically challenged girl raped in Gaibandha, one held

Gaibandha Correspondent: Police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly raping a physically challenged girl at Konapara village in Sadullapur upazila here on August 30.

The arrestee was identified as Babul Sarkar, son of Nazmul Haque of the area.

Masud Rana, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadullapur Police Station, said Babul tempted the handicapped girl and took her to a bridge in the area and violated her there on Friday evening.

“The accused has been arrested in this connection. Primary evidence of rape has been found. The victim has been sent to Gaibandha District Hospital for medical test,” the OC said.

Victim’s father filed a case against Babul with the police station on Sunday.
