16 Jamaat men arrested in Jhalakathi

Jhalakathi Correspondent: Police arrested 16 Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists from a house at Shitlakhola area in Jhalakathi town on Friday morning.  

The arrestees were identified as district Jamaat Secretary Faridul Haque, municipal Jamaat Amir Maulana Abdul Hai, Jamaat leader Abdul Kuddus and 13 others.

Later, police also detained the house owner and former Jananta Bank AGM Mahiuddin Khokon.

Police said, the Jamaat men sat in a secret meeting for planning to conduct subversive activities.

Jhalakathi additional police super MM Mahmud Hasan told risingbd that a case was filed under the special power act in this connection. The arrestees were sent to court.
