RMG worker 'gang raped' in Savar, 4 arrested

Savar Correspondent: Police arrested four youths for their alleged involvement in the gang-rape of a female readymade garments worker in Savar municipal area.

The arrests were made following a day-long drive yesterday (September 6).

The detainees are Shaon alias Member, 20, son of Tota Mia; Sumon, 32, Mokhlesur Rahman; Ilias Hossain, 18, son of Selim Farajee and Arif, 30, son of late Kamal Hossain.

Police said the female garment worker made her way to meet her boyfriend while returning home after concluding her work at the factory on Thursday (September 5). At that time, the accused appeared at the spot and raped her forcefully by turns after putting her boyfriend in detention.

The victim filed a written complaint with Savar Model Police Station in this connection.

Later, police detained the accused following the complaint.

Inspector AFM Sayed of Savar Model Police Station confirmed the matter saying the victim was sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

A case was also filed with the police station in this connection, he said.
