Drug-addict son kills mother

A mother, who was hit allegedly by his drug-addict son Sumon in Godagari municipality area of Rajshahi, has died.

Shukti Rani, 50, wife of Asha Ghosh at Srimantapur village in the municipality, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Monday midnight.

Khairul Islam, officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station, confirmed the matter.

Sumon’s cousin Ratan said Sumon was a drug-addict. On Monday morning Sumon wanted money to his mother and locked into an altercation with his mother. In one stage, Sumon hit his mother with a stick. She succumbed to her injuries at RMCH at 11.00pm.

Police sent body to the hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC adding that they are trying to arrest Sumon.

Police are taking preparation to file a case.
