Sylhet put under lockdown

Sylhet district has been locked down from today to contain the transmission of the coronavirus or COVID-19.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) AHM Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter on Saturday (April 11).
He said the lockdown has been enforced from 4 pm today and will remain in force until further notice. But emergency services will remain out of the purview of the lockdown.
The district administration announced the decision following the recommendation of the local committee on coronavirus prevention affairs, according to a notice signed by M Kazi Emdadul Islam, deputy commissioner of Sylhet.
As per the decision, public entry and exit to the district have been restricted until further instruction.
All kinds of public transport and people's movement will also be restricted, it added.
Stern action will be taken if anybody is seen to flout the rules of the lockdown, the notice said.
