Rape and murder case accused killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

The prime suspect of a rape and murder case has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

The incident took place in Morongghona area of Chakaria upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased, Sazzad Hossain was the main accused of the infamous Champa rape and murder case.

Sazzad, son of Abul Hossain Putu Killaghona area, was an auto-rickshaw driver.

On May 6, the deceased, Champa took a shared ride on a three-wheeler, auto-rickshaw, and Sazzad and his associate reportedly abducted the woman. After raping her in turns on the three-wheeler, they threw her in front of a running vehicle on the highway that killed her on the spot, sources say.

Police recovered her dead body from Chakaria and the deceased's father filed a case in this connection.
