Habiganj UP chairman suspended for stealing rice

A union parishad chairman of Habiganj district has been suspended for allegedly stealing relief rice.

Muklichh Mia, chairman of Nurpur Union Parishad of Shaistaganj upazila in Habiganj has been suspended from his duties for allegedly stealing of rice allotted under corona relief and VGD programmes. Earlier he was suspended from the Awami League.

Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Mohammad Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury issued a notice in this regard.

A show cause notice has also been served under which the ministry asked the chairman to respond within 10 days with explanation as to why he should not be removed permanently from his respective post over the allegation.
