That Rabeya gets cash assistance

Country’s leading and popular online news portal risingbd has stood beside a cake (pitha) seller,RabeyaKhatun,by providing her with cash money.

Abbas UddinTalukder, a social worker and a resident of Biramchar area of Shaestaganj municipality, has also given cash money to Rabeya.

risingbd published a story of the miserable life on RabeyaKhatunwho is a pitha seller at Shaestaganj Rail Station in Habiganj.

The story shook heart of the portal’s Advisory Editor and Executive Director of Walton Uday Hakim and social worker Abbas UddinTalukder.

It can be mentioned that Uday Hakim has already extended his helping hand towards many helpless people in the country after knowing about their family conditions during coronavirus pandemic.

On behalf of Uday Hakim, Habiganj correspondent of risingbdMdMamunChowdhury and Abbas UddinTalukderhanded over the cash money to Rabeyaon Saturday noon.

RabiaKhatun happily accepted the cash and became emotional. She said the donors understand sorrow of the poor. “This money will help me to survive. I am very grateful to them. I thank to risingbd for publishing the news item”, she said.

Uday Hakimsaid he had sent money to the Habiganj correspondent to help the woman after reading the story.“I am very happy that I have helped the woman” he said.

“I have instructed not only the Habiganj correspondent but also all our correspondents across the country to provide emergency aid to the people without waiting for others.In the current situation, it is more important to go to the people with helping hand, not for only making a news item” Uday Hakimalso said.

Abbas UddinTalukder said risingbd published a humanitarian report on BabeyaKhatun. After reading this report, I personally took the initiative to help Rabeya.

He has already distributed foods worth Tk 6 lakh among the helpless people after the corona outbreak in the country, he also said.
