Hefazat`s new Amir to be elected soon: Junaid Babunagari

Hefazat-e-Islami secretary general Allama Junaid Babunagari said, the new Amir of the organization will be elected soon through conference.

Babunagari made the announcement through a microphone of mosque before the burial of Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi on Saturday noon (September 19).

He said, “Allama Shafi Hujur was our Murubbi (senior). We are praying for him. We will call a conference of Hefazat-e-Islam soon as the post of Amir is vacant following the demise of Shafi Hujur.”

Meeting of Shura committee of the madrasa will be held this evening, he added.

Earlier, Allama Shafi breathed his last around 6:20pm on Friday while undergoing treatment at Asgar Ali Medical College and Hospital in Old Dhaka.
