New areas flooded in Natore

Water levels of the Atrai and Barnoi rivers are flowing above the danger marks (DMs) at many points in Natore district.
Low-lying areas of the district have already been inundated by flood waters, increasing sufferings to the people.
The Atrai river was flowing 51cm above danger level at Singra point on Saturday. It was flowing 80 cm above danger level on Friday.
On the other hand, the Barnoi river was flowing 29 cm above danger level at Naldanga point. It was flowing 32 cm above danger level on Friday.
Several villages have been flooded, breaking two embankments at Solakura and Tajpur. Over one hundred houses have collapsed.
Naldanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Mamun said the water level in Barnoi river has started declining. However, in addition to the beal area, water has entered the municipality area. The people have become waterlogged. We are providing food assistance to the flood victims.
Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nasrin Banu said the water level of the Atrai river at Singra point has decreased slightly. However, many areas have been inundated, breaking two embankments. As a result, many families in the area have been flooded. About 70 houses are under threat of river erosion.
