Mirkadim municipality councillor candidate hacked

Awami League leader Abu Taher, also councillor candidate of Mirkadim municipality of Munshiganj sadar upazila, has been hacked by the opponent group centering the election.

The incident took place at Kalmaghat bondor area at 9.30 am on Friday (January 29).

Superintendent of Police (SP) in Munshiganj Mohammad Abdul Momen confirmed the matter.

Abu Taher is organizing secretary of Mirkadim municipality unit of Awami League. He is contesting the polls as councillor at ward no. 2.

Abu Taher alleged that he was attacked by supporters of opponent councillor candidate Awalad Hossain.

The polls are scheduled to be held on February 14.
