Hathazari Madrasa DG dies shortly after announcement of his name

Mufti Abdus Salam Chatgami passed away soon after being nominated for the post of Director General (DG) of the much-talked-about Hathazari Madrasa in Chattogram.
Mufti Abdus Salam, an adviser to Hefazat-e-Islam, a member of the Hathazari Madrasa’s Shura Committee, breathed his last at around 11:45 am on Wednesday (September 8).
Maulana Muhibullah Babungari, a member of the Shura Committee, confirmed the news to risingbd.
He said an important Shura session was held at Hathazari Madrasa Majlis at 10 am. Mufti Abdus Salam Chatgami died suddenly around 11:45 am.
According to sources from the madrasa, the meeting of the Shura committee of the Hathazari madrasa began around 10 am under the presidency of Allama Muhibullah Babungari. The meeting was attended by members of the Shura, including members of the current management committee of the madrasa.
During the meeting, the eldest Mufti Abdus Salam Chatgami was appointed ‘Director General’ of the Madrasa.
Mufti Abdus Salam Chatgami was taken to the Hathazari Upazila Health Complex when he suddenly fell ill during a meeting of the Shura Committee. The doctor on duty declared him dead around 11:45 am, the sources said.
