Lightning strike kills 3 in Tangail

Three people were killed in a lightning strike in Tangail's Kalihati upazila in the morning of Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday (May 3).

The deceased were known as Ariful, son of Rabiul Islam, Faysal Mia, son of Julhas Barari and Rakib Mia, son of Razzak Mia. Ariful and Faysal were students of class ten.

The incident took place in Hatiya village of Daskia Union.

Confirming the matter, local union parishad chairman Abdul Malek Bhuiyan, said that a streak of thunderbolt struck five people while they were taking bathe in New Dholeshwari River around 7am, leaving them injured.

Later, the three critically injured people were taken to Tangail General Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
