Road crashes claim three lives in Gazipur in 10 minutes apart

Three people were killed in two separate road crashes at Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur in just 10 minutes apart.
The incident took place on the eastern side of Safipur flyover around 4:00 pm on Tuesday (May 03).
Of the deceased, two were identified as Renu Begum, 50, wife of late Altab Hossain of Sadullapur under Ulipur upazila in Kurigram, Md Hossain, 45, son of Ramiz Uddin of South Salna in Gazipur. Another was known as Sharif, 28, whose detail identification could not be known immediately.
According to Fire Service and Police, an Ena Paribahan bus rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the eastern side of Safipur flyover, leaving auto-rickshaw driver killed on the spot. Several people also sustained injuries in the incident who were admitted to hospitals.
Just after 10 minutes, another bus rammed into another CNG-run auto-rickshaw, leaving two killed. Of them, one died while taking to hospital and other succumbed to the injury in the hospital.
Kaliakoir Fire Service’s warehouse inspector Saiful Islam said fire service unit rushed to the spot immediate after the incidents took place and rescued the bodies. The bodies were handed over to highway police.
Firoz Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Salna Highway Police Station, said, “The bodies will be handed over to the families after completing autopsies.”
